Vereeniging residents faces a sewage nightmare

VEREENIGING - Residents in Vereeniging have been met with yet another unpleasant start to the year as water and sewage problems persist. The community reports that human waste continues to spill into their homes, causing significant health and sanitation concerns. Frustrated residents have accused the financially struggling Emfuleni municipality of neglecting basic services such as waste collection, despite numerous visits by the president in recent years. One resident described the situation to eNCA as unbearable. Municipal officials, however, maintain that they are aware of the challenges and that the issues are being addressed. Residents, though, remain sceptical, calling for urgent and tangible action to resolve the long-standing crisis. The situation has drawn renewed criticism of the municipality’s capacity to deliver essential services.
