VANDERBIJLPARK - The Vanderbijlpark SAPS is investigating a case of culpable homicide following a fatal accident on the R42 Barrage road. It is alleged a VW Polo sedan carrying six passengers collided with an electric pole, resulting in the vehicle overturning, at around 05:30 on Sunday, January 21. Vanderbijlpark SAPS Communication Officer, Sgt Sabelo Sigcu, said in a statement, the driver and two passengers were declared dead on the scene by paramedics. Four other passengers were rushed to hospital for medical attention. It is alleged that the occupants were all trapped in the car and the vehicle had to be cut open by the fire department. Motorists in the Vaal Triangle are strongly urged to comply with traffic laws, emphasizing the prohibition of speeding and overloading. Motorists are also advised to contact the police immediately regarding any accident for immediate response.
