VAAL TRIANGLE - It has been revealed that R100-million has been allocated for unused luxury vehicles for the South African Police Service’s Crime Intelligence unit. This includes luxury sedans and SUVs which have sat idle for years, while undercover operations have reportedly been dormant for a year. The DA has called for a thorough investigation into alleged mismanagement and wasteful spending within the SAPS’s Crime Intelligence unit. The DA’s Dianne Kohler Barnard says this mismanagement of taxpayer funds has raised concerns about the effectiveness of security agencies, particularly in light of the unnoticed July 2021 riots.
