The IEC announces two voter registration weekends

VAAL TRIANGLE - The Independent Electoral Commission has announced that voter registration will take place on two weekends. Speaking at the launch of the 2024 national and provincial elections campaign at Gallagher Estate in Gauteng, IEC chief electoral officer, Sy Mamabolo confirmed that the first voter registration weekend will be on 18 and 19 November. However, the second registration weekend is yet to be announced. Mamabolo says online voters registration has recorded over one-million registered voters. He says the election slogan is, It’s Your Democracy, Own It.

Meanwhile, the IEC says it’s ready for the seventh democratic elections scheduled for next year. Chief electoral official Sy Mamabolo says the date for the elections is yet to be confirmed. Mamabolo explains discussions are currently underway, and president Cyril Ramaphosa will make the official announcement once the date has been determined.
