Sebokeng SAPS investigate a case of mob justice murder

SEBOKENG - The Sebokeng SAPS is investigating a case of murder following the death of a 47-year-old Lesotho national, Motsamai Modibedi, believed to be the victim of mob justice. Rea Gazette reports on 12 October 2024, officers responded to reports of mob violence and found Modibedi's lifeless body, wearing black pants without a shirt, bearing red marks and head injuries. Preliminary reports indicate he was attacked by community members after allegedly stabbing another individual in the area. Modibedi was a resident of the Sonderwater shacks, with no known next of kin. The body is currently being held at the government mortuary. Sebokeng Police Spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane condemned the act, urging residents not to take the law into their own hands. Acting Station Commander Colonel Stofina Mofokeng emphasized the importance of community cooperation with law enforcement, encouraging the public to report crime without violence.
