Mother appears in Vanderbijlpark court for alleged trafficking of 2-year-old son

VANDERBIJLPARK - A 32-year-old woman appeared in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court in Gauteng last week after admitting to allegedly selling her 2-year-old son. She appeared on charges of human trafficking, making a false statement to the police, and conspiracy to commit robbery. The woman allegedly sold her 2-year-old son to unidentified individuals last month. A few days after the incident, she reported to the police that unknown men in a vehicle had kidnapped her son in Boipatong. A spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, Lumka Mahanjana, says the woman later admitted that she made up the story.

The whereabouts of the child, Kutloano Shalaba, remains unknown. Police urge anyone with information on the wherabouts of the child to come forward and contact the Branch commander Captain Mokgoto on 082 778 7937 or Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela on 079 695 1338. Alternatively members of the public can call #CrimeStop on 08600 10111 or submit information on the #MySAPSApp.
