EVATON - A multi-disciplinary operation, led by Lieutenant General Mthombeni and Sedibeng District Commissioner Major General Nkhensani Lemba was held last week Saturday, 20 July in Evaton, in the Sedibeng District in the Vaal Triangle. At a roadblock, 26 suspects were arrested for driving under the influence, 11 for being illegal immigrants, two for possession of illicit cigarettes, and seven illegal liquor outlets were closed. At the same time, a High Density Operation, led by The Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, was held across all districts in Gauteng, with strategic roadblocks and targeted raids resulting in the arrest of 1,032 suspects for serious crimes. These include murder, attempted murder, rape, business robbery, drug dealing, possession of suspected stolen vehicles, assault, harboring illegal immigrants, and possession of unlicensed firearms. Detectives arrested 127 individuals for crimes against women and children. The High Density Operation aims to significantly reduce crime in Gauteng, with suspects expected to appear before provincial Magistrates' Courts in the coming days.
