VAAL TRIANGLE - The Minister of Health, Doctor Aaron Motsoaledi, is moving ahead with steps to implement the National Health Insurance (NHI) Act despite legal challenges against it. The minister has published guidelines for public comment on the governance arrangements to establish the advisory committees required by the NHI Act. The draft regulations provide Motsoaledi with the power to appoint the NHI board and expert advisors on benefits and pricing. President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the NHI into law last year, but it has not yet been promulgated.
