MIDVAAL - Cert-SA says their Vaal crew responded to a a call for assistance from Midvaal Fire Department on Sunday afternoon at around 13:30. Upon arrival, the emergency personel found a female patient in active labour. According to Cert-SA, the patient was en route to the hospital but felt that delivery of the baby was imminent, so they went to the fire station for assistance instead. With the cooperation of the Fire Fighters and Cert-SA Vaal crew members, the baby was safely delivered, and both baby and mom were stabilised before the two were transported by Gauteng Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital. Cert-SA thanked the firefighters who went above and beyond their everyday duties in assisting with delivering this baby girl.
