Man suspected to have taken his own life after woman found dead in Sharpeville

SHARPEVILLE - The Sharpeville SAPS is investigating the tragic death of a 39-year-old woman found in a shower at her Rooisteen residence in Sharpeville. Her landlord made the gruesome discovery and alerted the police. Rea Gazette reports, Captain Teboho Lephoto confirmed that the woman’s body was in an advanced state of decomposition. Initial investigations revealed she was last seen alive on January 5, 2025, with her boyfriend. itnesses reported the boyfriend left the next day, claiming he was traveling to QwaQwa in the Free State. Meanwhile, police in QwaQwa found the boyfriend dead at his home earlier today, in what is suspected to be a suicide. Authorities have opened inquest dockets in both locations to explore possible connections between the deaths. Captain Lephoto stated that Post-mortem results and forensic investigations will determine any links. Police urge anyone with information to come forward. Investigations remain ongoing.
