Gauteng highways record a rise in vehicle spiking incidents

VAAL TRIANGLE - Gauteng highways are reportedly seeing a rise in vehicle spiking incidents. The Gauteng Provincial Joint Operations Centre says hotspot routes include the N1, N12, N17, and N4. Criminals often also place rocks or logs on the road to force motorists to stop and rob them, especially at night. Drivers are urged to maintain safe speeds, stay vigilant, and avoid stopping in dark or unsafe areas. Instead, they are advised to proceed to well-lit locations like garages and to report suspicious activity.
