Emfuleni Municipality Bolsters Waste Collection Fleet

VANDERBIJLPARK - The Emfuleni Local Municipality Waste Department has acquired four new compactor trucks through the Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG). Valued at over R8.4-million, the trucks aim to improve waste collection services across Emfuleni communities. During a launch at the ELM Head Office in Vanderbijlpark, Executive Mayor Cllr. Sipho Radebe and MMC for Waste Cllr. Jonas Radebe welcomed the new fleet additions. MMC Radebe emphasized that the trucks will address current challenges stemming from fleet shortages. The trucks are expected to service over 3,000 homes daily, covering the Vanderbijlpark CBD and being distributed across three depots. Mayor Radebe highlighted this move as part of the municipality’s Financial Recovery Plan, prioritizing insourcing to enhance service delivery. This initiative underscores Emfuleni’s commitment to efficient waste management and its gratitude to national and provincial governments for their support.
