Education activist issues a call to rename North West University after Lucas Mangope

VANDERBIJLPARK - Education activist Hendrick Makaneta has urged government to rename North West University to Lucas Mangope University in honour of his contributions to education in South Africa. The university has campuses in Vanderbijlpark, Mahikeng and Potchefstroom. Despite being viewed as a dictator by some, Makaneta noted Mangope's dedication to academic excellence and community development. He says renaming the university would acknowledge his role in shaping the education landscape while inspiring future generations.
