SHARPVILLE - The DA’s Shadow MEC for Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Kingsol Chabalala conducted an oversight inspection at the Boipatong Monument and Youth Centre and the Old Sharpeville Police Station, today. The DA says the Boipatong Monument and Youth Centre has not been operational since its inception in 2015, despite the Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation (SACR) spending over R12-million on operating costs. The Old Sharpeville Police Station has been neglected with no maintenance for years. The DA says he will ascertain what needs to be done to ensure that these historical heritage sites benefit the local community and contribute to the Gauteng economy.
