VEREENIGING - Cert-SA says their Vaal crew responded to a call for a motor vehicle collision on the corner of Rhodes and Union Street, Vereeniging, on Saturday night around 19:45. Upon arrival, the crew found a vehicle that had hit a cyclist and then veered off the road, hitting a light pole and almost ending up in a car dealership. According to Cert-SA, there were a total of five patients on scene, of which one was a baby. All patients were assessed and treated on scene. One patient sustained serious injuries while three others sustained moderate injuries. Unfortunately, the baby passed due to the extent of his injuries and was declared dead on scene. All patients were loaded into various ambulances and transported to nearby facilities. Cert-SA thanked the Vereeniging Fire Department, ER24, Netcare 911, Sharpmed, Gauteng Emergency Medical Services, and SAPS Vereeniging for the assistance on scene.
