Bophelong 10-Year-Old Severely Injured in Botched Circumcision

BOPHELONG - A circumcision procedure turned tragic in Bophelong, leaving a 10-year-old boy with severe injuries. The child was registered for circumcision at a NPO at Bophelong Centre on June 18. His mother was however notified during the day that her child had been taken to Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto. It is alleged the boy suffered severe bleeding and swelling due to the circumcision procedure, necessitating surgery. The doctor at Baragwanath Hospital revealed that the damage was extensive, and initial attempts to repair it had failed. It was later discovered that the circumcision had been performed at a church in Bophelong by someone who was not a doctor. The mother is now seeking legal action and hopes for a miracle recovery for her son. The Department of Health has not yet commented on the incident.
