Body of woman found in Sebokeng Zone 19 sewage stream

SEBOKENG - The Sebokeng SAPS says an inquest investigation is ongoing after the lifeless body of a woman was discovered in a sewage stream next to Zone 19 on the Golden Highway on Tuesday, 02 July. Local community members alerted the police after they noticed human feet in the sewage stream, while passing by on the Golden Highway. Upon arrival, officers pulled the lifeless body of an African female from the stream. The deceased was later identified by her cousin, Junior Mokheseng, as the 30-year-old Lerato Nyakane, a resident of Azania, Sebokeng. Sebokeng Police Spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane says the cause of death remains unknown at this time. The police urge community members not to wait 24 hours to report a missing person, emphasizing that there is no mandatory waiting period for such reports.
