SASOLBURG - The Airports Company of South Africa (Acsa) says the National Petroleum Refineries of South Africa (Natref) are paying attention to the possible jet fuel shortage at the OR Tambo International Airport. This follows a fire at the Natref refinery in Sasolburg on 4 January. Acsa said in a statement yesterday that immediate intervention and risk mitigation measures are needed to address the expected jet fuel shortage at the airport between January 20 and the expected delivery date of January 27. Acsa's statement says that the wider South African fuel industry has been informed that the crude distillation unit at the Natref refinery, which was damaged by the fire, will not be back online until 21 February.
